Erik, no Magneto, knew that while ‘the day was saved’ as it where, a new threat would come.  They always do, while he did decide to be on Charles side, spare the world to live a little longer, he knew they didn’t deserve it.  They were utterly unworthy of it.

He once again opted to disappear into the mist.  Charles knew where he was, but that was a closely kept by him.  He did not physically visit.  But sometimes talking telepathically.  It amazed him how far his friend’s powers had grown.  He never thought they could talk, or connect like this.  He took pride in it.

It was late at night, later then Charles would normally reach out to him, it seeming off.  Poland has lost its charm for Erik. He opted for Russia. St. Petersburg. He had moved there. Hope, and against hope he met someone. Katarina Ladic. She was a principal ballerina with the Kirov ballet. She was also not a mutant.

She knew who he was. She didn’t care. It was rare, and at first he didn’t believe her. She had known mutants, both kind and evil. Erik was somewhere in between. She liked him, it swiftly moved to love. He liked she was a ballerina, could become someone else.  He admired that.

Erik had blocked out his mind that day spending it with her.  It was the premier, and he wanted it to just be the two of them.  In the evening Charles could sense him again. It was 9.30 pm, he felt stress in Erik. But Erik wasn’t answering, mainly because he couldn’t talk outload. He was watching Kat in a performance of Manon.  The current scene he was watching was Manon’s rape scene.

Charles was torn, should he send someone?  No that would break Erik’s trust, he couldn’t do it.  Should he go to him in person?  That may have the same effect.  He opted to go into ceribro to see if he could extend himself through the astral plan, to help his friend.  He unfortunately could to reach him, touch him in a way that could help him.  It left him no choice.

He would have to go to Erik.  There could be problems, Russia was not the friendliest to both outsiders, and especially mutants.  He would need backup, but knew it needed delicate hands.  He opted for Logan.  While he was not pleased to be going, it would allow Erik to feel like he had the high ground.

Erik while not in danger physically, he felt emotionally like he was dying as he watched the scene before his eyes.  Erik had seen many a horrors in Nazi Germany, in the camps including rape.  He tried hard to tell himself it was just a play, it wasn’t really happening.

She hadn’t told him. Maybe that was foolish, but he never would have let her dance the beautiful piece nor come see it.  It was selfish, but Erik could be a brick wall, or well metal wall at times. The scene continued Des Crieux, Manon’s lover bursting in, killing the jailer escaping with Manon into the Louisiana swamp, where after a dramatic pas de deux Manon died in her lover’s arms.

Erik was brought to tiers, even she could see that from up on stage as the cast took their bows.

The ballet was over, Kat went backstage, after a quick physio trip, and a hot shower she dressed and went to the stage door. Smiling when she see Erik.  He stayed to the back.  He had ignored Charles’ pulling for a response.  He was deeply disturbed she could see that, but there was a wall of fans she had to deal with before she could get to him.

She take pictures with them, signing programs, babbling in Russian and English. Giving waves when they finally let her leave. She walks forward letting Erik lightly grab her. Erik makes quick work of feeling for a pulse. Kat didn’t mind this understanding the need just by the look in his eyes.

Kat feel his long fingers on her wrist, then neck as he looks at her.  She feel his fingers are lightly trembling as he does this.  After he pressing his forehead against hers. “Sorry.” He mutters.

She felt guilty hearing this, “It’s alright. I am sorry for not telling you.”

He was quiet as he led her away.  Kat could tell he wasn’t mad at her, but lost in thought, memories, and phantoms.  She tried her best to shake him out of it by offering, “Do you want to come back to my apartment?”

“I think my place.” He said, this surprising her, never allowing her there before.

“Are you sure?”  She was completely taken aback and surprised by this.

“Yes, I think I am ready.”  He had thought about it for a long time.  Each of them seeming off of forced.  But tonight, tonight it felt right.

She smile soft, and nodded squeezing his hand. “Alright Erik. Let’s go.”

He was nervous, but he knew his place was imperceptibly clean.  He was a very private man, and she knew that.  He stopped in his tracks when he opened the door.  She see people in his house dressed in yellow and blue spandex.  “What the hell are you doing here?!”
